On this episode of Running Times, Gagz connects with Brian Wilford, Head Medic for Destination Trails and the Triple Crown of 200s: Bigfoot, Tahoe, and Moab. He was the medic for 2021 Ouray 100 and also served as medical consultant for the Cocodona 250.
Brian spent 30 years working for the Green Valley Fire Department before retiring in 2017 as Battalion Chief. Brian has saved countless lives over the course of his career. These days, however, The Medicine Man is committed to saving runner’s races (and their lives) as he travels the country in an RV with his rescue dogs going from one big mountain ultra to the next.
This conversation is loaded with tips and tricks for the novice and grizzled ultrarunner alike, and is one you won’t want to miss – especially if you’re considering a gnarly mountain 100 or 200 miler. Hear for yourself how Brian saved Gagz’ race at Tahoe earning him the moniker “Best Cut Man in the Business.”
